Most insurance plans cover general dental treatment, injuries and emergency work, plus serious oral diseases. However, cosmetic dentistry is excluded. So your policy will not cover teeth whitening, porcelain veneers or dental implants. Private companies offer discount dental plans. You should pay flat fee yearly and this gives you an access to the provider dentists.

Many dental insurance companies also use what is called a Usual, Customary and Reasonable (UCR) fee guide. This means that the company sets its own price that it will allow for every dental procedure that it covers and you will have to pay the rest if needed.
